Eine rauchig, bluesige Stimme, und ein virtuoser Solopianist in Personalunion interpretiert »The Great American Songbook«, » Rock/Pop goes Jazz« und Eigenkompositionen.
Seit fast 30 Jahren beschäftigt sich M.M. intensiv mit der Herausforderung das Klavier als Soloinstrument zu spielen und zu singen. Riskante - interessante - und »so-noch-nie-gehörte« Interpretationen eines ungewöhnlich breiten Spektrums an Songs aus über 70 Jahren Musikgeschichte sind hier zu hören. Die umfangreiche Repertoireliste lässt auf einen Künstler schließen welcher »mit allen Wassern gewaschen ist«. Einen, der sich über viele Jahren und unzählige Stunden in Bars, Hotels und Clubs ein Repertoire erarbeitet hat ohne jedoch jemals - auch nur für einen Augenblick - den großen Konzertsaal als Ziel aus den Augen verloren hat.

»Klavierkonzerte als Solist im Jazz sind selten geworden. Kaum jemand stellt sich noch der großen Herausforderung die fast unendliche Klangvielfalt und die orchestralen Möglichkeiten dieses Instrumentes zu entdecken, und sich die Virtuosität zu erarbeiten die notwendig ist um Jazzstandards oder Pop- oder Rocksongs in Konzertstücke zu verwandeln. Dabei zählt es zu den spannendsten und intensivsten Momenten mit sich selbst und diesem Instrument alleine zu sein. Es ist die größtmögliche Freiheit und Kreativität die man in der Welt der improvisierten Musik finden kann.« (Markus Minarik)
Markus Minarik tut dies, und nicht nur als Pianist sondern auch als Sänger. Und dies von Anfang an. Er beendete als einziger Student in der Geschichte des Konservatoriums der Stadt Wien die Diplomprüfung und das Abschlußkonzert des Konzerfaches Jazzklavier als Solopianist.
